Just got home from our walking
week which you led, and want to say how much we enjoyed all the
walks for their variety, content, and of course the “snippets”. You
made the Peaks come more alive for us. I feel the whole party was
Thank you for the great walk. Your trek had
something for everyone; interesting information about the Peaks and
its history, a little shopping, yummy food, suggestions for
children’s outings and, of course, the walk. You combined it all
into a great day out for us ladies. How lucky we were to have such
nice weather!. Absolutely everyone is looking forward to getting
your Bakewell Pudding recipe. Once again, thank you. All of us had
a wonderful time.

Hi Sally, thank
you so much for taking us on such a lovely walk last week. You
obviously kept the lovely weather up for us!I’ve had lovely comments
from the others who really enjoyed themselves.
Rural Business Adviser
Just wanted to thank you for doing the talk to our Rural Social
Group yesterday, they thoroughly enjoyed it and the feedback was
that they could listen to you for hours !! The only disappointment
was the lack of your 4 legged companion !! I have put a thank you on
our Facebook page and a link to your website.
The Farming Life Centre
Thank you for your email. Everyone has been commenting on how great
the weekend and walk were!! They were particularly complementary
about your lemon drizzle cake!!
Thank you once again for another ‘wonderful’ walking holiday. I
welcomed the group back in on Friday and you could tell there was a
real ‘buzz’ about the place. Andrew was full of praise and even the
weather was good to you.
I will put a note in our 2015 ideas and look at doing a Peak
We had a wonderful time in the Peak District and you enhanced our
experience enormously so many thanks. I thought that Bakewell and
the way you organised the tasting was excellent and the walk on the
Monsal trail ending up at The Stables rounded the whole day off
perfectly. You can tell that banter and a lot of fun works for our
group as witnessed in the pub and thanks for joining in, you made it
easy for us.
I never got around to saying a huge thank you for the fascinating
walk we did round Matlock Bath and Cromford – the girls loved the
talk and most of all the chocolates! I now drive by the hair
dressers cabin at Cromford and can pass on my little gem of
knowledge to everyone in the car! The meal in the Fishpond was
excellent even if the initial service was not quite up to scratch –
thanks for getting us back in plenty of time to eat.
Many thanks, hope you are having a busy season
from The Lakes & Scotland today. Wanted to thank you for a great
experience with 'The Trit Trotters'. Super idea that I am sure will
prove a fine addition to people's trips to Castleton.
We so enjoyed your company and apologise for our rapid departure due
to the onset of inclement weather.
Hope to visit again and meet up
Thank you Sally, for SUCH a lovely day yesterday. You were such a
lovely leader - we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A great and
memorable way to spend my birthday! Thanks too for the photos -
husband and I were on your two walks for Saga this week and
thoroughly enjoyed them - thank you very much for all the snippets
of fascinating information. The frequent mentions of Paxton created
an interest in him and on the way home today we stopped at the big
bookshop just outside Buxton and bought a book, entitled
by John Anthony. They do have at least twenty more copies if you are
interested - at the bargain price of £2.99.
I had a quick flick through ( will read properly later) and found
mention of his two daughters who did marry.
His great grandchildren are also thanked in the acknowledgments, so
he must have had at least two other children besides the two in the
tomb at Edensor and grandchildren. Your information about his
grandson must be correct. Phew!
We hope to visit Derbyshire and the Peak District again and may well
turn up on one of your future walks.
Very best wishes

Thank you very much for a most enjoyable walk
yesterday, with a good train ride to start and many
interesting snippets en-route. Julie and I would
certainly like to join one of your other walks in
the future so as you offered we would like to be
added to your newsletter list please. We will
gladly pass on the leaflets you gave us to others;
it is a pleasure to meet someone who is so keen to
provide customer satisfaction. We wish you continued
Glad you liked the photo. Yes, dooooo put it on your
gallery. We'll like being famous!
We all really enjoyed the day out with you (I think
it shows in the photo). We will definitely be

Now that I'm over jet lag and have my life back in
order, I want to send special thanks for the
wonderful day you gave us in Derbyshire. I think we
all agreed that it was so beautiful, meaningful and
the highlight of our trip to the UK. You were an
excellent guide, and the pace you set was perfect.
It was also very nice meeting Pat and soaking up her
knowledge of Padley Chapel. Thanks, too, for the
use of your walking stick; it really helped and the
next day we got one (collapsible) for me. It made
the rest of the walking easier.
We were all impressed with the friendliness and
helpfulness of all the English people we met, but I
feel that we made a real friend in you. If you
should ever want to make a trip to the U.S./Michigan
you will have places to stay and guides! Meanwhile,
know that I will never forget our trip to
Grindleford and Hathersage, and, if the fates allow,
would love to return someday.
With love and every good wish,
Sally Padley (August 2011)
I have been meaning to email you ever since we got
back, but one thing or another seems to keep me from
it..... In any event, I just wanted to say again
what a wonderful day we had with you. We all
decided that our day in Derbyshire was the best day
we had in England, and it was due to you and the
wonderful people that you introduced us to and the
fantastic day that you planned for us. We just
can't thank you enough - it was spectacular! We
feel as if we went home just a bit and will forever
carry with us a little bit of the beautiful Peak
With warmest regards -

Thanks for making our Chocolate Walk so special
today. The weather was glorious as were the views.
Your snippets made the walk very interesting. Thanks
also for being so kind to our more elderly members.
The chocolate factory was pure heaven.
Hope to see you again soon

Everything about the day was brilliant, Bob made the
mine tour really interesting and informative, your
little snippets about all the local focal points are
always good and your lunch was delicious (the soup
just right for the rainy day we had).
We also got home in time for Stu to watch his F1,
which was also rained off for two hours.
Thanks again and hope to see you again soon.
Hi Sally just a note thanking you for the walk you

bridge in Lathkill Dale we were so disappointed we

Sally, our wonderful Peak District guide, yet
again pulled out all the stops to make sure the
Christmas Walk in the Longnor area was a magical
success on Saturday.
As well as enjoying a six mile walk around the
surrounding area, over lunch at the village pub, the
Cheshire Cheese, everyone was treated to a magic
show by landlord Chris. The entertainment didn’t
stop there as there was also a live folk band
playing in the pub and there was a Christmas Market
in the village.
Sally even put her best baking foot forward on
Friday evening and produced some homemade mince-pies
for everyone to enjoy, complete with a little MM
One guest commented on the day, “Yet again
Sally provided us with a very enjoyable and
informative walk in the Peak District on Saturday.
She really is an excellent guide and I am really
looking forward to her ‘chocolate walk’ in March. I
am so pleased it didn’t get cancelled due to the
weather as it was a great day out”.
We love Sally, as she always looks after our
members brilliantly and she’s establishing a real
following now. So, if you’re ever tempted by one of
her walks, then I’d suggest booking quickly to make
sure you get a place.
Just wanted to drop you a note to say a massive thanks for all your hard
work and efforts on Saturday. We had a super time and the lunch was

Just wanted to thank you for
a perfect day yesterday, it surpassed my expectations completely with
the beautiful scenery, your snippets of information & interesting
stories and of course a wonderful picnic - the only regret was not
having room to eat more!
People were still talking about what a great experience it was this
morning - I will certainly be recommending you to others & have left
your contact details at the house for other parties - hope that's ok.
just a quick note to say 'thanks very much' for a really enjoyable walk

Hi, I'd just like to say I have taken advantage of Sally's undisputable
knowledge of the Peak District - an area she clearly loves - several
times now. Each time I have nothing but praise for her. If you want to see the Peak District, I believe being guided by Sally
is the only way to do it! Thank you! "

Everybody told me how much they had enjoyed being with you, not
just for the wonderful scenery of the Peak National Park, but
also for your local titbits of gossip and information!
had an excellent snack lunch at the Lathkil Hotel looking out
over the lovely countryside, and the staff at the hotel were
really kind and helpful. What a spread they had on the table
when we went in! No wonder they're popular if this is what
they put on every day for visitors in the walking season. I
was quite sorry not to be able to tuck in but we were getting a
three-course dinner that evening at Shrigley Hall so I had to
rein myself back!
Anyway, my sincere thanks once again, Sally, for helping to make
our week so enjoyable, and I wish you luck for the coming season
with lots of clients and long days of sunshine!

mentioning both of these features that you told us about!
I'm sure our next visit to the Peak District will not be too
far away, and we will contact you again please!

Hi Sally. Thanks
again for two very enjoyable & informative walks including the fab
picnic (highly recommended). I did manage to find my way to the Goyt
Valley and had a lovely walk. I was the only car in the Pym Chair car
park to start off with and only met 6 or 7 people during 3 hours of
walking even though it was a sunny day. Thanks for the recommendation.
Take care Graham
Dear Sally and

thank you so much
for the guided walk last week, we really enjoyed the fresh air of
derbyshire and to hear all of the interesting points you raised along
the way. See you soon for another ramble and maybe picnic next month.

We would say don't hesitate to go on a walk with Sally, she took us to
lathkill dale and along the manifold. We have seen so much more than if
we went by ourselves, Sallys local knowledge and snipits of info meant
we could go places we wouldn't have tried by ourselves. We had a great
time and we're coming back again next year.
All the best Sally look forward to walking with you again!
